Change Through Consistency

Here’s a concept!

Being consistent in your ministry can bring the change you desire. We love to hear or read about how to change our ministries:  how to make them better, how to be more productive, and more than anything...how to see success.

My short thought for you today is that chances are, you are already doing a lot of things right. Things that can bring about the success you desire. The trouble may be that you aren’t being consistent and/or may be giving up too soon.

Change sounds exciting….at least to most. We want the newest programs, the newest songs, the most up-to-date ministries. While we should always strive to be relevant and fresh in our concepts while being relatable in our connections, nothing will work without consistency. Our human nature wants us to quit when we don’t see immediate results.

Having grown up in a Pastor’s home and now working in ministry for many years, I have seen my share of struggles. Struggles of change. Struggles of growth. Struggles with consistency. I have found that people will follow someone who is steady and faithful over someone who is constantly changing before allowing results to truly manifest. Don’t be too quick to throw in the towel on something!

A few steps that I like to implement before making any changes are

1.        Research and gather information

2.        Obtain product or samples

3.        Talk to a mentor or your pastor about your idea

4.        Take it to the Lord in prayer

After doing all the above and obtaining the green light, you should now feel confident in presenting your new concept to your team. Bring it to them with excitement. Don’t let it spark and die. Continue to fan the flame. Check on it constantly. Baby it. Water it. Your actions will be mimicked by those around you. Your team will take ownership if they see that you are all in.

BE CONSISTENT! Before you know it, it will be off the ground, and others will help you carry it. This will, in turn, bring the CHANGE that you were wanting all along.

STEADY is the pace needed for the CHANGE that you desire.

I Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
